Grave Marking Ceremony

The grave marking ceremony for James Griffin, ancestor of chapter members Clarence and Steve Coffman, was held May 16th. James Griffin was a veteran of the War of 1812 and is buried in Egbert Cemetery at Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church at the corner of Co. 38 and St Route 101 northeast of Tiffin. It was attended by John Hancock Chapter members Clarence and Steve Coffman, President Henry Stobbs, VP/Secretary Mark Cook and David Young. Heather Reichert, President of the National Society United States Daughters of 1812 Ohio State Society and Vice President Donna Vanover who is also a member of the Hopewell Chapter of the DAR in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Seneca County Veterans Organization attended with their Color Guard and gave a rifle salute. Steve Coffman spoke of James Griffins role in the war and placed a wreath and 1812 marker at his grave.
